History:

Personality:
"Books! And cleverness! There are more important things -- friendship and bravery."

At first impression, Hermione might come off as a bossy know-it-all with an ego far bigger than the room she's in. She will speak, determined to be the one with the correct answer, and always share an opinion when given the opportunity. Although some might find this behavior intrusive, the young witch means well. After coming from a regular(muggle) family, she feels as if she has to prove herself to the wizardry world and to the people around her. At times, this has prevented her from making friends but eventually, her other traits begin to show opening that awkward social barrier. In the end, everyone could use a Hermione on their team, her intelligence inevitably makes her a very important asset.

Caring and charismatic with the yearning to help those in need, Hermione can be the most reliable person one could ever ask for. She would never discriminate on a task or set anything aside that needs doing. Bribing her would be impossible, she holds too deep into her morals for something like that and as much as consequence can hurt or torment her both physically or mentally for doing the right thing, she will not give up to get the job done. What she doesn't know she will discover, what she hasn't done yet won't stop her from trying. She gives without caring on receiving.

Her love of knowledge and her determination to help others has made her quite the activist when it comes to people's rights and how things are run. She is not afraid to speak her mind and she is more than capable of defending herself through concrete facts and even with a wand. She has a strong temper and if provoked, her wrath will show. All in all, she'll keep her good mannerisms in place. She's pretty much a conservative in thought but clearly liberal in most social idealisms.

Although she is known to be very strict in regards to rules or protocols, she is also very capable of breaking them fully aware of consequences if she knows that something is in jeopardy or they really need it. Despite understanding how important order truly is to any situation, she's well capable of constructing chaos if it means doing the right thing. She's very open minded and won't judge anyone or anything by a single glance. In regards to people, she won't discriminate by who or what they are. Every one is a living thing and must be respected and she holds true to that philosophy. She also holds true to the ideology that with great power comes great responsibility. To those with gifts (let's say magic or social power, etc&), she believes they should be wiser in order to keep themselves from abusing what they have. She will always stand up for the weak or the defenseless and give a lecture or two to anyone who's abusing their powers.

At most times, Hermione is seen as the voice of reason, assessing every matter and situation with an unbiased mind providing every piece of logic that could be presented with it. This, at times, can make her somewhat of a damper to others but she means well. She isn't afraid of addressing people if she needs to, or telling a higher up of something suspicious that is going on. Although it might categorize Hermione as a snitch, she means well only looking for the protection of the people she cares about. She's not afraid of having her thoughts rejected understanding the symbolic meaning of freedom of speech. She doesn't expect for her opinion to be followed but she does hope it's heard and when it isn't, it's a good way to get her upset.

In regards to how strongly she feels about the things she believes in, Hermione has quite the temper when upset. Always keeping a level head most of the time, when provoked, Hermione is no stranger to anger or rage. Canonly, she has actually physically injured someone because of her strong emotions (rage, really).

Despite how 'in control' Hermione seems to come off, the girl has certainly met her shares of pain. Suffering from a rather low self-esteem brought upon years of teasing and people clearly not exactly understanding her, she might be prone to putting on a hard face but on the inside, words and actions still wound the girl. Like every teenager in her position, no one likes to be treated differently, Hermione is the same. She just knows how to hide it better than some.

Fears:
    Incompetence or inadequacy
Her knowledge of almost everything is an asset that has made her stand out from many yet sometimes Hermione figures it's the only thing that keeps her afloat. It stands as a curse, most people didn't like her because she was too smart yet they wanted her near in order to use her skills. She was friendless before her rocky start with Harry and Ron and although she's grown to look away from whether people see her as something more than an asset to use(even Ron seems to want to use her for her brains), it's still something that haunts her mind. She prefers to be useful and fears being ignored or cast away because she no longer has a purpose.

This fear spreads farther than her use with her friends. It harbors a fear of solitude, of what could happen if she wasn't good enough to keep the people around her. This also bleeds into the fact that Hermione is terrified that she can't save the people that she cares about. A good example of this is when she splinched Ron by accident, or when she jeopardized the house of Black while they were trying to get away. That was her doing, she feels, and she regretted it all the while even after Ron got better and they decided moving around more was a better bet than staying in one place. This fear keeps her around the people she cares about with a watchful eye to the point it can be bothersome (like whenever Harry does things a bit recklessly and Hermione ends up telling on them). She does regret it but really, their safety is a bigger concern any day.

    Fear of failure
The first time Hermione is brought upon a boggart (a creature who turns into the thing you fear the most), she sees the sight of her least favored professor giving her an F on an exam. It doesn't only express her fear of bad grades but of failure itself. Snape reflects a person who quite honestly challenged every aspect of Hermione's fears. She felt inadequate because she wasn't a natural to the wizarding world and because of this she tried to be the best at everything. Snape never quite let her win, she was always fighting canonly to be accepted and in most of the things she does, especially nearing her canon point, it's become a lot harder. More people depend on her, for example her parents. She had to mind-sweep them in order to protect them, Harry and Ron depend a lot on her, and really when there's a war going on it's their life that's truly at stake. She's carrying a huge burden on her shoulder and it's in Hermione's nature to worry. Failure is just not an option, not with the high stakes she's carrying in her hands.

Weaknesses:
    Insecurity
Despite how strong Hermione may seem at face or how brave she might be in regards of speaking her mind or fighting for what she feels is right, she's always been rather insecure about herself. Like any teenage girl would be about their looks or their behavior, she's always very cautious trying to be likable enough without exactly trying to change herself or conform (for example how she will never conform to accepting Draco). She knows no one will ever be happy with her but she tries (even with people who don't particularly show ever wanting to like her like Severus Snape). She doesn't want to be popular, she just wants to be noticed enough to belong. This is seen in canon by how she changes her teeth that were said to be too big when she had the chance or how she's always trying to fix her noticeable hair.

In her later canon, her insecurities are mostly based upon her relationship with her friends and whether she is really doing the right thing. It's safe to say that between Harry and Hermione, they carry the team when it comes to ideas and solving problems (finding horcrux and defeating voldemort), but most of the weight falls on her. During the times when Harry wore the locket too long, he'd make mention that perhaps having Hermione in charge of the hunt was a bad idea. Although Harry has always been the leader of the group, it's always been Hermione's judgment that gave him a direction. She's like the conscious of the group. That puts a lot of pressure on her. The errors inevitbly become hers (especially when people are wearing evil necklaces that make you say terrible things) and Hermione isn't always quite the strong to hear the comments. Words still sting and they sting deep to the girl. Sometimes being the strongest link in a pack isn't always a good thing.

    Too nice
Hermione is definitely a generous soul but sometimes she forgets to think about her welfare for a change and that gets her into trouble. Not only do people take advantage and therefore feed her insecurity, but it also makes her vulnerable to optimism. She sees good where most see evil and sometimes she's not particularly the best judge of character. A clear example is her ongoing battle with Harry and Ron that Snape was truly on their side (which after Dumbledore's death and a very terrible torture episode, that was shot out). Another example is her agreement with harry's rash decisions for the simple notion of not arguing with him since when Harry gets angry and doesn't talk to him, it really makes Hermione feel unwanted. The biggest sacrifice, however, was when Ron eventually leaves the group. It's apparent that her emotions for him were deep, their relationship was no secret to Harry and when he made her choose, it was probably the biggest decision Hermione had to make. On one thing, this was the boy she had been romantically interested in since around her second year in Hogwarts and then there was her best friend who was fighting for a good cause. To lose her boyfriend she finally had or to abandon his best friend and perhaps the rest of the world? The world was obviously more important than her own emotions but that didn't mean she didn't feel anything about it. She was a pretty depressed lot but that sacrifice is what truly makes Hermione a very loyal friend and ally.

Mundane Strengths/Abilities:
    ❦ Intelligence
Hermione is very intelligent and capable of breaking most codes or solving most puzzles. Even if she doesn't necessarily understand a topic or know it, she is an incredibly fast learner and adaptable. There are very few instances in which her problem solving skills don't work for the better.

Sensitivity/Magical Ability:
    ❦ Witchcraft
Hermione is a witch capable of both healing and destruction. Her strengths and spells come from the knowledge she has obtained through reading and experimenting. All though she considers herself a white witch, she is very knowledgeable of black magic solely because their war against Voldemort calls for at least knowing and understanding what the enemy is capable of. She will never raise her wand to kill, she is more easily prone to stunning and disarming. She is known to heal anything from fractured bones, to burned flesh.

Her spells range from defensive and offensive spells to transfiguration, along with everyday remedies in repairing or aid. She is a very skilled potions master.

Sample RP post:
It was raining again for the third day in a row and Hermione had no choice but to stay cooped up inside the tent Harry and Ron were sharing with her. They were still in the wilderness waiting for Ron's wounds from that splinching incident to heal and it wasn't long before Harry began to lose his temper.

The static from that radio Ron never seemed to shut off was the only other sound aside from the pounding rain on the canvas of their tent. She hadn't moved from her seat on their make-shift dinner table that had been working as her desk for hours. Ron hadn't moved from his bed and Harry? Well, Harry had stormed off.

It had been months since the last time they heard any word from the Order or so much as talked to anyone other than t too themselves. Things were just too dangerous and Hermione knew that as the time went by and the number of horcruxes they found increased, it would be far too difficult to get some time to think like this. Time was running out, the boys depended on her and she couldn't figure out how all of this was connected together.

How can you destroy something that was created to be indestructible?

That paradox was driving the witch mad. The table was covered in layers of books she had read before but none seemed to give her an idea of what she could use. Puzzles were her forte, putting the pieces together was her charge- Dumbledore had given her everything she needed but she couldn't piece this together.

"What could it be, what could it be..." she muttered under her breath, tapping a sharp fingertip over the cover of a book. Hermione knew better than to underestimate the dark arts but could it really be this difficult? She was running out of time! Harry would appear soon, Ron would be healing in a few days, and they had no lead just a horcrux they couldn't destroy. The world was depending on them and sure enough Harry was probably feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Harry was her main concern, that boy never learned that he wasn't alone in this. Although his sacrifice had been greater, Ron and Hermione had stayed true to their word of helping him, their very blood had been shed for him. Just as Hermione cared for everyone but herself, Harry was the same. Harry merely placed all blame and pressure on himself and made Hermione far too worried about him to bother with anything else. He never did learn. Looking for anymore hints was pointless for now, she dropped her notes and got up moving to the tea pot and their open fire. She might as well make something soothing before Harry and Ron went at it again. It put her nerves on edge when they fought. They didn't need anymore misfortune's.
